Procedure

  1. Put the small o-ring on the tension meter at zero.

  2. Put a ruler on the motor and ElectroMagnetic (EM) clutch assembly base close to the center of the belt span.

  3. Put the tension meter on the belt squarely at the center of the belt span with the ruler visible.
  4. Align your point of view such that you are looking at the belt directly on its edge with the scale of the ruler behind the belt.
  5. Without changing your point of view, press the tension tool plunger straight down onto the belt until the belt has deflected 3 mm as measured on the ruler.

  6. Release the tension tool and read the force applied from the bottom of the small o-ring on the deflection force scale. Compare the force measurement to the table below.

  7. If the belt tension is outside of minimum or maximum values, tighten or loosen the belt tension screw as follows:
    1. Slightly loosen the four screws securing the motor to the motor housing.

    2. Turn the tension adjustment screw to adjust the belt tension. Turn clockwise to tighten the belt or counter-clockwise to loosen the belt.
    3. Tighten the four screws securing the motor to the motor housing.
  8. Repeat Step 1 through Step 7 until the deflection force is within tolerance.
