Procedure

  1. Undock the patient table and remove it from the magnet room.
  2. If the patient table is lowered, raise the table to its highest elevation with the Up foot pedal.
  3. Remove the right upper and lower side covers from the patient table. See Patient Table Upper Bellows and Lower Base Side Cover Removal.
    • warning
    • Personal injury possibility
    • When doing maintenance on the table in its up position, severe personal injury can occur if the table is accidentally lowered during maintenance.
    • Make sure the lock safety bar is safely in place.
  4. Lower the table lock safety bar to the locked position, then lower the table to make sure the weight is resting on the safety bar.

  5. Hold the Down foot pedal down, while pumping the Up foot pedal at the same time. (This can also be accomplished by propping the Down valve in the Open position with a flat-blade screwdriver placed between the Down valve and the cylinder block as shown.)

Figure 2. Location of down valve and cylinder block

  6. After all the air bubbles pass though the clear low-pressure hydraulic oil hoses (back to the reservoir), stop pumping and release the Down valve. See Figure 3.
  7. Remove the screwdriver to close the Down valve.
  8. Purge the lift cylinder by pumping the table up to the top.
  9. Open the bleed screw a few turns at the cylinder top until oil flows steadily from the screw after the air bubbles purge.
  10. Tighten the bleed screw to just snug.
  11. With the table at its highest elevation, raise the lock safety bar to the unlocked position.
  12. Lower the table to its lowest position using the Down foot pedal.
  13. Fill the table reservoir with hydraulic oil, so the fluid is 0.25 to 0.50 inches (6.5 to 12.5 mm) above the Full Line when the table is at its lowest position.

Finalization

  1. Replace the side covers on the patient table.
  2. Make sure to redock the table.
