Removing the Integrated Control Engine (ICE) fan assembly

Removing the Integrated Control Engine (ICE) fan assembly from the System Cabinet.

Procedure

  1. Turn off the System power. See LOTO for ISC.
  2. Open the ISC covers.
  3. Connect the Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) strap to the ESD bond point above the Direct Current Power Supply (DCPS) in the ISC and wear the ESD wrist band.

  4. Disconnect the ICE power cable from J1 of the ICE DCPS and the Ethernet cables from the switch.

  5. Remove the ICE as follows:
    Note: Do not remove the slide rails from the ICE chassis.
    1. Disconnect all connectors from the front panel.
    2. Remove the screws securing the ICE module in place.
    3. Carefully move the cables out of the way, and slide the ICE out.

  6. Disconnect the PCIe cable (J51) from the ICE rear panel.

    2Pull the ring to disconnect
  7. Press the release tabs in on each side and pull the ICE forward.
    Note: Hold the ICE carefully when you remove it so that it does not fall.
  8. Remove the cables from the rear panel as follows:
    1. Release all reusable tie wraps, and remove cables. (Lift up the latch and push the tie wrap to release it.)
    2. Disconnect two Ethernet cables (J53, J54) and the power cable (J52) from the ICE rear panel.

  9. Do the following steps to remove a fan from the back of the ICE.
    1. Pull the fan power cable from the hole beside the fan, and disconnect the cable.
      Note: Be careful when you remove the power cable. It can fall into the hole shown below.

    2. Remove four screws, and remove the fan.
