  • Have read and understood all hazard conditions and safety requirements in the latest revision of the GE Healthcare MR Service Safety Manual (5452735).
  • Have successfully completed all relevant GE Healthcare Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) courses (or for non-GE employees, equivalent workplace training courses).

About this task

The patient table can be operated in either the docked or undocked position. Undocked, it can be raised or lowered using the foot pedals at the rear of the table. In addition, floor locks are available for locking the wheels during patient transfer. While the patient table is docked to the magnet enclosure, the table can be driven up or down by either the dock pedals or the foot pedals at the rear of the table.

Table movement verification for patient table

Procedure

  1. Undock the patient table by pressing the second pedal from the left at the rear of the table and move the table away from the dock.

  2. Press the table Down pedal (far right) to start downward movement of the table top. Downward movement of the table top should stop when the pedal is released. Make sure the table travels from the highest to the lowest position with the table unloaded.
  3. Pump the table Up pedal (second from right) to start upward movement of table. Make sure the table reaches its highest position in 17 pedal strokes or fewer. For accurate check of this function, use complete pedal strokes (push the pedal all the way down and let pedal come all the way up before starting next down stroke).
  4. Press the steer lock pedal. Rotate the table left and right. Make sure that both the rear and the right front wheels caster.

    Result

The left front wheel should remain oriented longitudinally along the table (it could rotate up to 180 degrees before locking).
  5. Press the Caster Lock pedal on one of the rear casters to lock both rear casters.
    1. Make sure the caster locks prevent all patient table movement when the pedal is in the locked position.
    2. Make sure there is no movement of the cradle while the patient table is undocked.

  6. Disengage the caster lock and repeat Step 5 on the opposite side.
  7. Disengage the caster lock and dock the patient table by aligning the table with the dock and then pressing the far left Dock pedal. Successful docking should not require excessive force. Press the Electrical pedal to connect the table.
  8. Pull the emergency release lever (located on the right side of the dock) and make sure the patient table releases from the dock (make sure the cradle is at the home position). If excessive force is required to pull the handle, adjust the dock hook tension.

  9. Dock the patient table.
  10. Pull the emergency release lever (on the right side of the dock) with one arm and make sure the patient table releases from the dock. If excessive force is required to pull the handle, adjust dock hook tension.
  11. With the cradle fully in the bore, press the Down pedals on the dock and the table itself and make sure the table does not start to move down with either pedal.
