Discovery and Optima Front Status Indicators
Overview
This document describes the state of external status indicators, such as LEDs or lamps, visible from exterior or front of a component while system is in idle or standby state. With exception of LPCA, this document does not describe indicators inside component case or indicators on component circuit board. Indicators listed are those visible without need to withdraw component from chassis or to remove component covers (except for LPCA).
The document is divided into sections by cabinet or high-level component. Each section contains a table that explains the status indicators on each component. The tables are divided into 3 columns.
-
The first column on left is labeled “Front Status Indicators” and lists the printed name on the front panel for the indicator, if available, or identifies it by description if it is unlabeled.
-
The second column in middle is labeled “Status” and describes the indicator status when the system is idle or in standby condition. Indicators that can display multiple normal states may have one color or another listed in this column.
-
The third column on right is labeled “Indicator Description”. This column describes the indicator states and condition indicated by each as well as location detail and other helpful information.
Be cautious of dim LEDs. Light from nearby lit, active LEDs often “bleeds” into inactive, dark LEDs making inactive LEDs appear active.

| ESTOP ON | Lit in normal operation after PROP goes active. Dark during E-Stop event or anytime PROP not active. See *NOTE: comments below. |
These indicators utilize neon lamps. It has been observed that neon lamp life-span can be short with neon lamps failing to illuminate after 1 year of use. When this happens, the indicators will be dark even though the circuits are active. Do not rely on status of indicators alone when assessing state of PET Cabinet PDU.
