Overview

This procedure details the CAN fiber-optic board (CFB) replacement steps. The CFB is located in the PEN cabinet.

CFB Removal

Procedure

  1. Remove the front cables to the CFB.

  2. note:

    If you need better access to the CFB, unscrew the two thumbscrews on the front of the CFB panel. Carefully slide the shelf forward, taking care with surrounding cords, to perform the CFB replacement.

    Using a ¼ inch wrench, remove the four screws that secure the protective cover.

  3. Disconnect the fiber optic lines from connectors J1 through J7.

  4. Carefully remove the CFB from the PEN cabinet.

Fiber Optic Repeater Board Installation

Procedure

  1. Connect the fiber optic lines from the RF hub, SRI, and PAC boards to the CFB as shown below. The latch on the fiber-optic connector connects facing up.

  2. Connect the cables to the front of the CFB Figure 2.
  3. Install the protective cover Figure 4.

Finalization

Procedure

  1. Remove LOTO from the system and restore all power. See the MR Service Safety Manual, PN 5452735.
  2. Perform CFB Functional Diagnostics.
