Replacing the table female coupler

Removes the female coupler from the patient table rotary pump and installs a replacement coupler.

Procedure

  1. Undock the table and move it out of the magnet room.
  2. Press the brake lock pedal to lock the table in a stationary position.

  3. Rotate the female coupler, using needle-nose pliers in the wide open position, until the half coupling screw is accessible through the cutout in the bearing guide.
    Note: Place a mirror or smartphone in selfie mode under the bearing to view the cutout.

  4. Loosen the 2.5 mm screw securing the shaft half coupling to the female coupler.
    Note: There are two half couplings, one attached to the hydraulic pump and another attached to the female coupler. The screw closer to the magnet side is attached to the female coupler.
  5. Remove the female coupler from the bearing guide.
    Note: Use small needle-nose pliers to remove the female coupler from the bearing guide.

  6. Install the replacement female coupler into the bearing guide until it sits completely within the bearing guide.
  7. Rotate the female coupler by hand to make sure it turns freely and smoothly.
  8. Tighten the 2.5 mm screw securing the female coupler to the shaft half coupling.

Replacing the dock male coupler

Removes the male coupler from the patient table dock and installs a replacement coupler.

Procedure

  1. Undock the patient table and move it away from the dock.
  2. Locate the coupler screw hole on the side of the male coupler.

  3. Loosen the 3 mm screw securing the male coupler to the dock shaft.
  4. Remove the male coupler from the dock.

  5. Install the replacement male coupler onto the dock shaft until the back surface of the coupler rests on the shaft flange.
  6. Locate and tighten the coupler screw on the side of the male coupler.

Finalizing the table rotary pump coupler replacement

Tests the operation of the patient table following replacement of the female or male rotary pump coupler.

Procedure

  1. Mechanically and electrically dock the table.
    Note: Premature coupler wear could be caused by misalignment of the table and dock. Make sure the table and dock bosses are properly aligned.
  2. Make sure the table moves up and down properly using the up and down pedals on the dock.
  3. Make sure the LPCA automatically drives out to engage the cradle when the table reaches its full height.
  4. Make sure the cradle and LPCA can be advanced normally into the bore when the table is at its full height.
  5. Make sure the cradle and LPCA move normally from the home position to the end of travel on the bridge using the enclosure In Fast and Out Fast buttons on the operator console.
  6. Make sure that the LPCA automatically retracts into the bridge when the table is lowered from its full height.
