Selection and Installation

About this task

Only one shock sensor should be installed per coil, except for coils that contain two or more pieces that can be stored separately, such as the Torso Coils and Head, Neck, Spine (HNS) Coils. These coils should have a shock sensor located on each of the sections. Refer to the related coil illustration for proper placement.

Procedure

  1. Check the tables below to determine which shock sensor (75G or 100G) should be installed on the coil. Make sure to install the correct shock sensor.
    Note:

The coils listed in the tables are the only validated part numbers allowed for shock sensor installation. These are coils manufactured and/or distributed by General Electric. (Look at the rating plate on the coil for this information.) Coils not purchased through General Electric (E-Cats) are not included, and should not have a shock sensor installed.

  2. Remove the adhesive backing on the shock sensor. If necessary, clean the surface of the coil with alcohol before applying the shock sensor. Place the shock sensor on the coil based on the location shown in the illustrations below for each type of coil.
    Note:

The actual location of the shock sensor on the coil may vary slightly from that shown in the following illustrations.

Place the sensor where indicated in the illustration below for the following coils:

    • 1.5T HNA Coil with Adaptor

    • 1.5T HNA Coil with Anterior

Finalization

Procedure

  1. Return the coils for use to the customer.
  2. Reuse the original packaging of the coil shock sensor for transportation.
  3. Order a new box of shock sensor stickers through Coakley if running low. Order stickers a couple of weeks ahead of the next PM to allow ample time for delivery.
