Checking the patient speaker

Procedure

  1. At the SCIM, set the Operator Volume Control to the maximum setting by rotating the Operator volume wheel Up with your finger.

  2. Work with the customer to speak into the SCIM/keyboard microphone while pressing the Speak button. The second person listens to the patient speaker from the rear of the magnet bore and confirms that volume and sound quality are adequate.
  3. Set the Operator Volume to 4 and confirm that there is no howling sound (feedback) heard at the patient speaker.
  4. If there is no howling sound (feedback) and no adjustment is required, perform a head and body scan to ensure the functionality of the system.
  5. If there is a howling sound (feedback) and/or adjustment is required for any of the previous patient microphone checks, proceed to Adjusting the intercom for the GOC audio assembly and choose the appropriate adjustment step.
