Collimator Assembly Replacement

Prerequisites

Overview

The Collimator Assembly is a Certified Component and must be replaced following the procedures for replacing a certified component found under Replacement >Certified Component Replacement Retest Matrix.

Procedure

    • Potential For Equipment Damage. DO NOT lift the Collimator by the Motors.
  1. Move table to its home position.
  2. Remove gantry covers as described under the section Replacement > Gantry > Enclosure
  3. Remove the tube by following the procedure in Tube Replacement.
  4. Disconnect connectors J8 and J9 from collimator.
  5. Remove collimator by removing the two (2) mounting bolts from the top, two (2) bolts from the bottom, and 2 bolts from the rear of the collimator.
    note:

    Following the actions below to torque the bolts when doing step 6.

    • 1P. Torque the first bolt to recommended pre-torque. See below illustration 1

    • 2P. Torque the second bolt to recommended pre-torque. See below illustration 1

    • 3P. Torque the third bolt to recommended pre-torque. See below illustration 1

    • 4P. Torque the fourth bolt to recommended pre-torque. See below illustration 1

    • 5F. Torque the first bolt to full Final-torque. See below illustration 1

    • 6F. Torque the second bolt to full Final-torque. See below illustration 1

    • 7F. Torque the third bolt to full Final-torque. See below illustration 1

    • 8F. Torque the fourth bolt to full Final-torque. See below illustration 1

  6. Install new collimator by replacing the six (6) bolts removed in above step.
    1. Apply Pre-load torque to M14 Mounting bolts:
    2. Apply Final torque to M14 Mounting bolts:
  7. Secure the tube back into place following the procedure Tube Replacement
  8. Reassemble gantry covers.
  9. Complete forms during finalization. See Certified Component Verification Form e-4879.
