Prepare to connect IPM to the customer network

Learn what network information to gather for an IPM implementation.

About this task

During an IPM implementation, you will need to work with the customer IT department to obtain the network information required to enable imaging devices to be registered for use with IPM. You must provide this information to the who will Connect devices to IPM.

To obtain the necessary customer network details:

Procedure

  1. Ask the customer IT/Network system administrator to configure network rules (for example on firewalls) to allow internet data transfers between the device and the IPM domains or URLs.
  2. Obtain customer-specific network configuration parameters:
    • Master network time protocol (NTP) server
      IP address/host name:
    • Domain Name System (DNS) server
      Primary IP address:
      Secondary IP address:
      Domain Search Name:

      OR

    • Proxy
      In all cases:
      Proxy IP:
      Proxy Port:
      If username/password authentication is required, also obtain:
