  • Ferrous materials can become dangerous projectiles in the presence of the magnetic field that the magnet produces.
  • Do not bring any ferrous tools or equipment into the magnet room.

Procedure

  1. Perform LOTO on the PDU. See the MR Service Safety Manual, PN 5452735.
  2. Remove the front portion of the split bridge Bridge and Longitudinal Drive Belt Replacement.
  3. Remove the rear cosmetic covers Rear Cosmetic Cover Removal and Installation.
  4. Remove the nuts and washers holding the rear pedestal to the magnet, and move the rear pedestal away from the magnet.

    • The part in this procedure is heavy.
    • Avoid awkward body positioning. Use proper lifting techniques when handling the rear end bell.
  5. Remove the five screws holding the rear end bell to the turtle bracket.

    • Damage to the cables may occur
    • Several cables and hoses, including fiber optic cables,are located behind the rear end bell. Take care when removing the end bell not to force or pull on any cables.
  6. Remove the two RF transmit cables from the RF body coil.
  7. Remove the patient air hose from the rear end bell.
  8. Remove the two RF coil cooling air hoses.
  9. Remove the rear end bell.
  10. Reverse the above steps to install the rear end bell. Confirm the gap between the rear end bell and the RF body coil is 2.5 +/- 0.5 mm with a desired gap of 2.0 mm.

  11. Verify proper fit of the covers.

Finalization

  1. Remove LOTO from the PDU. See the MR Service Safety Manual, PN 5452735.
  2. Verify that the speaker, patient air, and bore lights work.
  3. Do a body scan to ensure the system is working properly (see Doing a check scan).
