XFD-PS

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Remove L Upper Front Cover. Refer to SC Cover Removal
  2. Notice Image
    • notice
    • It will typically take about 15 minutes to discharge after SW1 is turned to Discharge Position.
    • Please turn the SW1 to Discharge position.
    • Use this 15 minutes for Draining operation and Hoist setup.
  3. Turn the SW1 to Discharge on Front .

    Figure 1. Discharge

  4. Drain the coolant. Refer to Draining Operation before replacing SRFD3, XFA, or XFD-PS.
  5. Notice Image
    • warning
    • Failure to properly drain unit of coolant will result in damage to unit due to freezing during transit.
  6. Disconnect the IN and OUT quick couplers of XFD-PS from the water manifold.

Figure 2. Water Manifold Socket Order

    note:

When disconnecting the quick couplers, move the couplers in parallel not to damage it.

  7. Notice Image
    • caution
    • When installing the couplers, insert the coupler to water manifold until click sounds.
  8. Connect the IN and OUT of quick coupler.

    Figure 3. Water Manifold

  9. Set the Universal Lift Hoist onto SC top. Refer to Hoist Setup.
  10. Disconnect the two connectors of leak sensor assy.
  11. Remove the cabinet leak sensor assy by loosening 6 screws.

    Figure 4. Remove Leak Sensor

  12. Disconnect the cable from J2 at Control Board and 4 terminal cables.
  13. Loosen 4 screws which are tightening XFD-PS front panel to the chassis.

    Figure 5. Remove Terminal Cover

  14. note:

M5 Screws to push out XFD-PS are located at chassis as following illustration.

  15. Screw two M5 (40mm) screws at the two screw holes to push the XFD-PS to the chassis and gradually slide it out from Cabinet.

Figure 6. Gradually Slide Out Using Screws

    note:

If you cannot withdraw XFD-PS using M5 screw, need to disconnect connector from rear side. Refer to In case connector of XFA or XFD-PS is very tight.

  16. Withdraw XFD-PS from the chassis.
  17. Notice Image
    • notice
    • The Area shown in the following illustration will be warm (104° F (40° C)) in 10 minutes after SW1 is set to 'Discharge' position.
    • Super Capacitor is discharged by radiating the heat and It is normal.
    • If this area is not warmed up, there is a chance that Switch is in failure and there exists charge inside of XFD-PS. Check the LED at Step 21.
  18. Install hoist brackets to the chassis of XFD-PS with 4 screws. Do not tighten 4 screws of hoist brackets.
    note:

Hoist Bracket is stored in FRU box.

    Figure 7. Hoist Brackets Installation

  19. Install the hoist assembly to the hoist brackets of XFD-PS, and tighten 4 screws of hoist brackets. Check that hoist bracket and hoist assembly are installed surely.
  20. Remove the top from the FRU case by releasing the butterfly clamp on each side.

Locate the top of FRU Box under the XFD-PS.

  21. Using the hoist, apply tension to the lifting chain until the weight of the XFD-PS is supported by the hoist.
  22. Press the release tabs in on each side as you pull the unit out further.

  23. Notice Image
    • notice
    • STAY OUTSIDE OF THE RED LINE AREA UNDER XFD-PS WHEN REPLACING THE ASSEMBLY. KEEP AS FAR FROM SYSTEM CABINET AS POSSIBLE.
  24. Push the rail slider into the system cabinet before lowering XFD-PS.
    note:

Here is the tips of slider rail operation.

    • caution
    • Do not touch the terminal just in case there exist high voltage.
    • If any LED is lit, there is a possibility that Switch is in failure and there exists charge inside of XFD-PS.
    • Carefully proceed the steps and store the XFD-PS in FRU Box. Packing in FRU Box is described in Step 24.
  25. Lift the XFD-PS up slightly to place the top of FRU Box.
  26. Use the hoist and slowly lower the XFD-PS Chassis to the top of FRU box.
  27. Check that no LED is lit from the slit of right panel. If any LED is lit, Switch may be in failure and there exists charge inside of XFD-PS.

    Figure 9. LED Check

If LED is lit, check the voltage of rear terminal. See Figure 10.

Figure 10. Rear View of XFD-PS

If voltage exist, wait until LED is turned OFF before transferring defective XFD-PS. Store it in FRU box and keep it in the safe place.

At worst case, it will take 1 days to discharge.

    note:

EDLC (Super Capacitor in XFD-PS) is safe during discharge state unless the terminal is shorted.

  28. Notice Image
    • warning
    • Never short the terminal of XFD-PS.
  29. Install XFD-PS by the reverse order of the removal.
    note:

Make sure to connect all cables and hoses.

    note:

Make sure to close draining valves and open Supply and Return valves.

  30. Be sure to install the hoses to water manifold.
  31. Restore FRU Box as it was.

    Figure 11. FRU Box

  32. Check that the SW1 is at Operation position.

    Figure 12. Operation Position

  33. Remove the two hoist brackets from XFD-PS chassis.
  34. Restore System Cabinet.

Finalization

  1. Restore the Power. Refer to Lockout / Tagout for MDP(Main Disconnect Panel) or Facility PDU .
  2. Refill Coolant. Refer to Refill Coolant after replacement of SRFD3, XFA, or XFD-PS.
  3. Perform Signal to Noise - Head Scan.
