Doing a check scan

A check scan is done at the conclusion of many procedures. This functional check assures the unit is in good clinical working order.

Safety

Before working in any GE Healthcare MR suite or performing any GE Healthcare service procedure, you must:

  • Have read and understood all hazard conditions and safety requirements in the latest revision of the GE Healthcare MR Service Safety Manual (5452735).
  • Have successfully completed all relevant GE Healthcare Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) courses (or for non-GE employees, equivalent workplace training courses).
  • Comply with all site-specific training and workplace safety requirements.

If you have any safety concerns at any time, do not begin work or immediately stop work and move to a safe location. Immediately contact your supervisor or site safety officer for instructions on how to proceed.
Make sure that you use the DQA phantom, so that the image can be analyzed for correct orientation.

  • Depending on site configuration and/or rules, you may want to temporarily disable Auto Archive or Auto Network.

Procedure

  1. Attach the head coil to the cradle and position the DQA phantom inside the cradle.
  2. Landmark on the center line of the phantom. The laser must be in the middle of the line. Press Advance to Scan.

  3. Click the New Worklist icon.

  4. Select a Patient ID workflow (other than geservice).

  5. Enter for weight: 111.
  6. Click Show All Protocols....
  7. When the Protocol Selector menu opens, click Protocol Details.
  8. Select the Protocol Library: GE.

  9. Select Adult.
  10. Click the Template tab.
  11. Select 3 - Plane 2D Localizer and click the arrow to move the selection to the box on the right.

  12. Click Accept.
  13. Click Save.
  14. Click Start Exam.
  15. Enter the following image parameters.

  16. Click Save RX.
  17. Click Scan.
  18. Review the images to confirm that the orientation is correct.
