Observe the following: Follow the MSDS guidelines for Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The coolant fluid is bio-friendly and can be poured down a normal drain for disposal. Although the water is treated for bacteria and water corrosion, the levels of concentrate are safe for water and sewer system disposal. Placing ball or check valves over the PGR cabinet or HEC puts cabinets at risk of water damage in case of a coolant leak from these items. Move ball or check valves NOW if they are located over PGR or HEC. If coolant needs to be refilled frequently, identify source of coolant leak. | |
About this task
- Inspect the hoses and valves to ensure that they are correctly installed.
- Fill the gradient coil and power electronics tanks in the Heat Exchange Cabinet (HEC) with a deionized water solution. (Usually, the gradient coil tank is filled before the power electronics tank.)
- Check the valves for leaks after the pumps are activated and the fluid is circulating.
- Check the joints are located outside of cabinet perimeters.
Note: If you are doing Planned Maintenance, please execute this procedure completely when you see significant coolant loss (more than a gallon) or any pump leak issues. Otherwise perform only the Filling the coolant procedure to top off the coolant tanks.
