HP Host Computer Replacement

Prerequisites

Overview

note:

This procedure only applies when swapping internal components between the same HP types. Swapping components between an HP xw8000, xw8200, or xw8400, xw8600 is not allowed.

1 Power OFF (Shut Down) the Console

Procedure

  1. If Applications are up, click on the Shut Down button.
  2. Power OFF the Operator Console front switch, when instructed to “Power Down”.
  3. Visually verify proper labeling of each cable and disconnect all HP Host Computer rear cables.

    (Refer to schematic for HP cable connection details - click on PDF icon, 3569661.pdf, to view PDF version.)

  4. Remove the four (4) mounting screws at the rear panel.
  5. Remove the front Operator Console cover.
  6. Remove and retain the four (4) front mounting screws.
    • caution
    • Potential for injury.
    • The HP Computer module weighs approximately 25.2 kg (55.6 lbs).
    • Use care, when removing the HP module.
  7. Slide out the HP Host Computer module.

2 Optional Hard Drive Exchange

The HP OC System Disk Drive and/or Image Disk Drives can be swapped, if needed. Follow the HP Host Computer Hard Drive Exchange procedure. Then return to these instructions.

3 Optional NIC Exchange

The NIC can be exchanged, if needed. Follow the HP Host Computer NIC Exchange procedure. Then return to these instructions.

5 Install the New HP Host Computer

Procedure

  1. If present, remove the top and bottom covers from the new HP Host computer.

    The computer module will not install properly, with these covers attached.

    • caution
    • Potential for injury.
    • The HP Computer module weighs approximately 25.2 kg (55.6 lbs).
    • Use care, when removing the HP module.
  2. Slide in the new HP Host Computer module.
  3. Replace the four (4) front mounting screws.
  4. Reconnect all HP Host Computer rear cables.
  5. At the rear of the HP Host Computer, verify the power switch is in the ON position.
  6. Apply power to the Operator Console by turning ON the front switch.

6 Decision Tree

Three scenarios might be seen when replacing an entire HP Host Computer:

Procedure

  1. If the HP Host Computer was fully swapped in as a FRU, then do a full LFC and call the OLC for replacement customer options CD or DVD (as applicable).
  2. If the HP Host Computer was swapped in, even the site's four original Disk Drives were reinstalled back, system should do a full LFC and call the OLC for replacement customer options CD or DVD (as applicable).
  3. If the HP Host Computer was swapped in, Master NIC card was reinstalled back, system should do a full LFC, you can use the original option key/DVDs for software options installation.

7 Retro Recon Test

The Reconstruction (not Scan) portion of the system can be tested at this point.

Procedure

  1. Click on the RETRO RECON selection on the left Monitor.
  2. Click the RAT GOLD series.
  3. Click SELECT SERIES.
  4. Click on CONFIRM.
  5. Verify the image(s) reconstruct and are displayed.
  6. Click on QUIT.

8 Finalization

Procedure

  1. Take some scans, verify the image(s) reconstruct and are displayed.
  2. Check that all customer functions are operational. (Auto voice, filming, network, archive.)
  3. Install the front Operator Console covers.
