HP Host Computer Replacement
Prerequisites
Overview
This procedure only applies when swapping internal components between the same HP types. Swapping components between an HP xw8000, xw8200, or xw8400 is not allowed.
1 Power OFF (Shut Down) the Console
Procedure
- If Applications are up, click on the Shut Down button.
- Power OFF the Operator Console front switch, when instructed to “Power Down”.
- Remove the rear Operator Console cover.
- Visually verify proper labeling of each cable and disconnect
all HP Host Computer rear cables.
(Refer to schematic in the rear cover for HP cable connection details - click on PDF icon, 183115.pdf, to view PDF version.)
- Remove the front Operator Console cover.
- Remove and retain the four (4) front mounting screws.
caution- Slide out the HP Host Computer module.
2 Optional Hard Drive Exchange
The HP OC System Disk Drive and/or Image Disk Drives can be swapped, if needed. Follow the HP Host Computer Hard Drive Exchange procedure. Then return to these instructions.For All-In-One console, follow the HP Host Computer Hard Drive Exchange-xw8400procedure.
3 Optional NIC Exchange
The NIC can be exchanged, if needed. Follow the HP Host Computer NIC Exchange procedure. Then return to these instructions.
4 CDIP board installation
For All-In-One console, remove the CDIP board in original HP computer, and install it in new HP computer. Follow the HP Host Computer CDIP board installationprocedure.
5 Install the New HP Host Computer
Procedure
- If present, remove the top and bottom covers from the new HP
Host computer.
The computer module will not install properly, with these covers attached.
caution- Slide in the new HP Host Computer module.
- Replace the four (4) front mounting screws.
- Reconnect all HP Host Computer rear cables.
- At the rear of the HP Host Computer, verify the power switch is in the ON position.
- Apply power to the Operator Console by turning ON the front switch.
6 Decision Tree
Three scenarios might be seen when replacing an entire HP Host Computer:
Procedure
- If the HP Host Computer was fully swapped in as a FRU, then do a full LFC and call the OLC for replacement customer options CD or DVD (as applicable).
- If the HP Host Computer was swapped in, but the site's three
original Disk Drives were reinstalled, the console should boot up
to Applications. .
- Perform Reconfig.
- Call the OLC for replacement customer options CD or DVD (as applicable).
- If the HP Host Computer was swapped in, but the site's original
Disk Drives and master NIC card were reinstalled, the console should
boot up to Applications.
- Perform Reconfig.
- You can use the original option key/DVDs for software options installation.
7 Retro Recon Test
The Reconstruction (not Scan) portion of the system can be tested at this point.
Procedure
- Click on the RETRO RECON selection on the left Monitor.
- Click the RAT GOLD series.
- Click SELECT SERIES.
- Click on CONFIRM.
- Verify the image(s) reconstruct and are displayed.
- Click on QUIT.
8 Finalization
Procedure
- Take some scans, verify the image(s) reconstruct and are displayed.
- Check that all customer functions are operational. (Auto voice, filming, network, archive.)
- Install the front and rear Operator Console covers.
