Primary Aperture Replacement

Prerequisites

This procedure provides the following:

  • Remove gantry covers and power down.

  • Remove X-Axis Tube Gauge Mount Bracket and Collimator Assembly, Interposer Plate, and primary aperture.

  • Install new primary aperture and reassemble components in reverse order of disassembly.

  • Finalization procedures.

Procedure

    • Voltage may be present.
    • Use proper lockout/tagout procedures before replacing components.
  1. Remove gantry power. Be certain to follow appropriate Lockout/Tagout procedures.
  2. Remove the gantry side, top and front cover.
  3. Turn OFF all 3 switches (AXIAL DRIVE ENABLE, HVDC ENABLE, 120 VAC) on the Service Switch Panel.
  4. Position the gantry with the X-Ray Tube at six-o'clock.
  5. Remove the four hexagon socket M4 screws for the X-Axis Tube Gauge Mount Bracket.
  6. Remove the X-Axis Tube Gauge Mount Bracket.
  7. Follow the procedure for removal of the Collimator Assembly.
  8. Remove the two slotted head shoulder screws for the Interposer Plate.
  9. Remove the Interposer Plate with Interposer Adjuster Block attached.
  10. Remove eight countersunk flat head screws to remove the primary aperture.
  11. Remove the aperture and place in the container for shipment.
  12. Install the new primary aperture ensuring not to damage any of the interior edges due to the critical nature of x-ray filtering.
  13. Apply Loctite 242 to the eight flat head screws and tighten.
  14. Apply Loctite 242 to the two shoulder screws and mount the Interposer Plate tightening the screws.
  15. Apply Loctite 242 to the four socket screws and mount the X-Axis Tube Gauge Mount Bracket tightening the screws.
  16. Follow the procedure for mounting the Collimator on the gantry.

Finalization

  1. Perform Plane of Rotation (POR)
  2. Perform Beam on Window Alignment (BOW).
  3. Perform CBF/SAG Alignment Process.
  4. Perform ISO Alignment Procedure.
  5. Peform Detailed Phantom calibrations.
  6. Perform Image Series Check.
