JEDI PPC Board Battery Replacement

Prerequisites

Overview

This procedure is for replacement of the PPC Board Battery.

1 Disassembly

Procedure

  1. If the battery is still working, save the JEDI runtime parameters by clicking the SAVE RUNTIME PARAMETERS button of the GENERATOR TOOL found in the DIAGNOSTICS tab of the Common Service Desktop.
  2. Notice Image

    • Voltage may be present
    • Use proper lockout/tagout procedures before replacing components.
  3. Remove power to the gantry using proper Lockout / Tagout procedures.
  4. Remove gantry right side cover.
  5. Turn OFF all the three switches (AXIAL DRIVE ENABLE, HVDC ENABLE, 120 VAC) on the Service Switch Panel.

    • Do not drop screws into inverter. If you do, they must be removed or damage to the inverter will occur.
  8. Remove largest inverter cover.

    note:

This NV RAM contains a lithium carbon monoflouride (LiCFx) battery, used to provide the battery backup for the static ram and the time device. Return the former component to your local GEMS representative for recycling.

2 Reassembly

Procedure

  1. Install the new battery on the PPC board in the same location from which it was removed. Ensure that it is properly installed.
  2. Replace inverter cover.
  3. Turn ON all the three switches (AXIAL DRIVE ENABLE, HVDC ENABLE, 120 VAC) on the Service Switch Panel.
  4. Replace gantry covers.

3 Finalization

Procedure

  1. Reapply the power.
  2. If the battery was working before the replacement, restore the JEDI runtime parameters that were saved prior to removing the PPC board battery. (This can be done by clicking the RESTORE RUNTIME PARAMETERS button on the mainGENERATOR TOOL screen.) Otherwise, initialize the JEDI database and run Filament Calibration.
  3. Start some exposures in different modes.
  4. Verify that the system works correctly.
