Setting up Adaptive Image Receive (AIR) MP large coil

Prepares the Adaptive Image Receive (AIR) MP large coil for the Multi-Coil Quality Assurance (MCQA) check.

Prerequisites

The AIR MP large coil MCQA uses the 3.0T phantoms, which are pink in color.
Note: Coils do not ship with phantoms. Phantoms come in a unified phantom set with the system.

Procedure

  1. Put the flat filler panel on the table.

  2. Place a TL unified phantoms on the cradle with the long edge of the phantom along the SI direction and the short edge of the phantom aligned with the edge of the flat filler panel.

  3. Place the second phantom next to the first phantom oriented in the same direction with no gap between the phantoms.
    Note: The phantom positioner spacer is not needed for AIR MP L MCQA.
  4. Landmark the center point of the line where the edges of the phantoms meet.

  5. Move the table out of the bore.
  6. Connect the coil to the P2 port.
  7. Go to landmark.
  8. Position the coil center on phantom setup with the center of the coil aligned with the landmark crosshairs.
    Note: Coil orientation is critical. Make sure the interface box is on the operator's right side of the bore (the same side as P2).
    Note: There is NO need to wrap and secure the coil with straps.

  9. Make sure the cable is inside the boundaries of the table so that it does not get caught in the tracks.

  10. Set the center position of the AIR MP L coil connected on Port 2 using the Touch-and-Go strips on the side of the table (if required).
  11. Landmark the center of the AIR MP L coil as shown and press Advance to Scan.

  12. Run the MCQA check.
    Note: Select 3.0T_20Ch_Air_Flex_Large_Coil_by_GE (or equivalent platform option) in the Current Coil field.
