About this task

Follow this process to replace the cable assembly on the 3.0T HD 8CH NV Coil by GE/USAI. This document also contains the field replaceable units (FRUs) and other accessories for the 3.0T HD 8CH NV Coil Field Replaceable Units and Other Accessories.

Replace The Coil Cable

Procedure

  1. Remove the posterior coil base cover.
  2. Remove the two screws that hold down the cable clamp assembly.
  3. Disconnect SMB plugs and the DC plugs on the coil cable end from the coil interface and DC control boards.
  4. Cut the cable tie, which secures the coil ID assembly, and then remove the coil ID assembly.
  5. Remove the old cable assembly.
  6. Fix a new coil cable assembly on the coil and reattach the cable clamp with the two screws.
  7. Connect all eight SMB plugs, DC plugs and coil ID to the corresponding receptacles on the interface and DC control boards Figure 1.

  8. Secure the coil ID with a cable tie.
  9. Close the posterior coil base cover.

Replace The Anterior Chest Coil Assembly

Procedure

  1. Remove anterior head coil cover.
  2. Remove the two screws that hold down the UDO connector assembly.
  3. Remove the old anterior chest coil assembly.
  4. Fix a new anterior chest coil assembly onto the anterior head coil by securing the UDO connector assembly onto the anterior head housing with the two screws Figure 3.
    Note:

    The chest connector must be oriented so that the black coax of the transition cable is next to the latch of the coil Figure 2.

  5. Close the anterior head coil cover.
