Patient Transport Movement Verification

Prerequisites

Overview

The patient transport may be operated in either the docked or undocked mode. Undocked, it may be raised or lowered via the foot pedals located at the end of the transport; in addition, floor locks are available for locking transport wheels during patient transfer. While the patient transport is docked to the magnet enclosure, the table may be driven up or down by either the motor located in the enclosure dock, or the foot pedals.

Procedure

  1. Undock Lightweight Patient Transport.
  2. Verify upward movement of table top by pressing Table Up pedal repeatedly.
  3. Verify downward movement of table top by pressing Table Down pedal to initiate movement. Downward travel of table top should stop when pedal is released.
  4. Verify floor locks on casters inhibit all patient transport motion when locked in position.
  5. Verify there is no movement of cradle while patient transport is undocked.
  6. Dock patient transport by aligning table with enclosure dock and then pressing the Dock pedal. Successful docking should not require excessive force. If table is fully up when docked, verify that carriage advances forward until it connects with cradle latch immediately after docking.
  7. Press Table Down pedal on dock, and verify that table travels from highest to lowest position in no more than 20 seconds with table unloaded.
  8. Press Table Up pedal on dock, and verify that table travels from lowest to highest position in no more than 19 seconds with table unloaded.
  9. Starting with table at lowest position, verify that it reaches its highest position in 14 pedal strokes or fewer, using Table Up pedal. For accurate check of this function to specification given, pedal strokes must be complete (i.e., push pedal all the way down and let pedal come all the way up before starting the next downward thrust).
  10. Verify that the emergency release lever (located on the right side of the dock) releases the patient transport from the dock when it is pulled.
  11. Redock the Patient Transport.
  12. Verify that blue cradle release handle releases cradle from carriage when squeezed. Refer to procedure for Cradle Release Adjustments.
