Bleeding Patient Transport Hydraulics

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Unlock patient transport and remove from magnet room.
  2. Raise patient transport table to highest elevation with Up foot pedal.
  3. Remove patient transport side covers on right side (when facing magnet enclosure).
  4. Lower the safety latch by disconnecting spring from scissors assembly (see Figure 1).

    Figure 1. LOWERING SAFETY LATCH

  5. Release hydraulic pressure by gently pressing Down foot pedal until table is supported by safety latch.
  6. Hold the Down valve on the lift cylinder open while pumping the Up foot pedal at the same time. This can be done by one person by propping the Down valve in the open position using a standard blade screwdriver between the Down valve and the cylinder block. See Figure 2 for location of Down valve.

Figure 2. LOCATION OF HYDRAULIC FILTER

  7. After all the air bubbles pass though the clear tubes (back to the reservoir), stop pumping and release the Down valve.
  8. Remove the screwdriver to close the Down valve.
  9. Purge the lift cylinder by pumping the table up to the top.
  10. Open the bleed screw at the cylinder top a few turns until oil flows steadily from the screw after the air bubbles purge.
  11. Tighten bleed screw (just snug).
  12. With the table at highest elevation, raise the safety latch and reconnect spring to scissors assembly.
  13. Lower table to its lowest position using Down foot pedal.
  14. Fill table reservoir with hydraulic oil (46-230006P2) so that fluid is 1/4 to 1/2 inch above full line when table is at its lowest position (see Figure 3).

  15. Replace side covers.

1 Finalization

Procedure

  1. Dock the Table and move the Table to the up limit position. Verify that the Table and Bridge are horizontally aligned and there is no height difference of Table and Bridge at right and left position.
  2. Verify that there is no part caught by wire or any movable module.
  3. Place the 159Kg Load evenly on the Cradle. If using the phantom, refer to the following illustration.

    Figure 4. 159Kg Load

  4. Verify that Table moves up and down fully and smoothly using the pedal of Table.
  5. Verify that Table moves up and down fully and smoothly using the pedal of Dock.
  6. Verify that Cradle moves in and out fully and smoothly.
  7. Verify that the amount of oil is properly filled.
  8. Verify that oil is not leaked from the cylinder. Refer to following illustration for check points.

    Figure 5. Oil Leak Check

  9. Verify that all of the parts and the screws are installed.
  10. Verify that there is no wound or dirt on the Table, Cradle, Pad, and Patient Strap.
