Head Coil Troubleshooting Tips
1 Overview
The following tips can be used to troubleshoot common problems with the 1.5T HDe GE Head Coil. 5145658(1.5T HDe)
2 Coil fault Troubleshooting
The system reports a coil fault during prescan or does not recognize the coil connection to the system when selected in the software.
2.1 External Cable Check
Before removing the cable assembly from the coil, visually inspect all coaxial connectors and pins on the coil connector. Figure 1 shows the Qhtr used for 1.5T HDe Head coil. Figure 2 shows the QD box used for 1.5T Head coil. If there are any broken, deformed or recessed pins or coaxial connectors, replace the cable assembly.
Check whether the BNC cable with blue strip is connected to BNC connector with blue label on the coil.
2.2 Mechanical Hardware Check
Check the BNC cables for mechanical damage and shorted center pins.
Inspect the Bendix/Hypertronics connector for damage from improper insertion. Banana plug on the 1.5T/1.0T Bendix Quick Disconnect plug will damage pins if the operator attempts to insert the connector upside down. At this time also inspect the Bendix/Hypertronics connector for foreign material and remove as appropriate.Make sure cradle latches and top latches are operating and still have adequate range of motion.
