4 Procedure

4.1 Check software version currently installed

  1. Open a Unix shell.

  2. Type the command in the Unix shell:

    {ctuser@hostname}# swhwinfoENTER

    Confirm the base software version.

4.2 Service Pack Installation

  1. If application software is up, perform Application Shutdown from Common Service Desktop.

  2. Plug in the Service Pack USB media into the front USB port of Host Computer.
  3. Open a Unix shell and become root:

    1. {ctuser@hostname} su -

    2. Password: <password>

  4. Perform the following steps to install the Service Pack:

    1. [root@hostname]# patch_install -usb

    2. The following message is displayed

      These patches from cdrom will be installed:

      Service Pack Name

      -------------------------------------------

      I will install update Service Pack Name from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

    3. Input y to install this Service Pack or n to cancel installation of this service pack.

    4. Confirm “Update Service Pack Name has been installed successfully” message.

  5. Check Software Version:

    1. Type: [root@hostname]# swhwinfoENTER

    2. System should reply with a response similar to the following, example only as below, different system has show different service pack information

      19BW15.42_SP1-1-0 .i386<hw info (ex. taix_40_PN_CM64_G_HLT) >

  6. Remove the USB media from Host USB port.

  7. Perform the following post install steps:

    1. [root@hostname]# reboot
    2. Perform Flash Download.

4.2.1 How to uninstall Service Pack

  1. If Application software is up, peform Application Shutdown from Common Service Desktop.
  2. Open a Unix shell.
  3. In the Unix Shell, become root:
    1. {ctuser@hostname} su -

    2. Password: <password>

  4. Perform the following steps to uninstall the Service Pack:

    1. [root@hostname]# patch_install -u

    2. The following message is displayed

      These following patches are installed on system:

      -------------------------------------------

      Service Pack Name

      -------------------------------------------

      I will uninstall update Service Pack Name , is this ok ? [y/n]

    3. Input y to uninstall this Service Pack or n to cancel uninstallation of this service pack.

  5. Perform the following post uninstall steps:

    1. [root@hostname]# reboot
    2. Perform Flash Download.

5 Finalization

  1. Perform Fast Calibration.
  2. Perform Quality Assurance Test.
  3. Save System State.
