TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO COMPONENTS WITHIN THE Z820, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING ESD PRECAUTIONS:
- WORK ON A STATIC-FREE MAT.
- WEAR A STATIC STRAP TO ENSURE THAT ANY ACCUMULATED ELECTROSTATIC CHARGE IS DISCHARGED FROM YOUR BODY TO GROUND.
- CREATE A COMMON GROUND FOR THE EQUIPMENT YOU ARE WORKING ON BY CONNECTING THE STATIC-FREE MAT, STATIC STRAP AND PERIPHERAL UNITS TO THAT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT.

IN ORDER TO MEET EMC REQUIREMENTS, THE CHASSIS MODULES MUST BE PROPERLY INSTALLED AFTER SERVICING. CHECK THAT THE MODULES ARE MOUNTED FIRMLY IN PLACE AND LOCKED DOWN WHERE APPLICABLE.

FOLLOW ALL REQUIRED SAFETY AND PPE PROCEDURES CUSTOMARY FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION WHEN WORKING ON THIS PRODUCT.

Overview

This procedure shall be followed when replacing the RAID Controller Card in a Z820 computer.

Select one of the following methods to Power OFF the Operator Console:
1. If Applications are up, click on the Shut Down button and select Shutdown.
  
  The Operator Console monitor will display a 'Power Down' message when it is acceptable to power OFF the Operator Console.
2. If Applications are down, open a Unix Shell. Type: halt.
Power OFF the console at the front panel switch.
Remove the left side cover from the console.

Refer to Replacement > Console > (Console Cover Removal and Installation Procedure).
Remove the following components from the host computer (Z820):
- Side Access Panel
- Expansion Card Support
- FDIP Card
- Q2000 Graphic Card
Replace the existing RAID controller with new one.
Reinstall all removed components, and reconnect any cables that have been disconnected.

Execute “Recreate Scan Disk Array” from Reconfig menu. (all scan date will be lost.)
Refer to System Scanning Test to confirm proper operation.
Reinstall the console covers.
