GDAS-16 Air Plenum Removal and Installation

Prerequisites

Overview

Remove Air plenum:

  • Rotate and lock gantry at the 12 O’clock position.

  • Disconnect fan power harness.

  • Remove air plenum.

1 Plenum Removal

Procedure

  1. Position the table to its lowest position.
  2. Remove the gantry right side cover.
  3. Position the gantry at 12 o'clock.

    • Always turn OFF the HVDC before the 12VAC. Turning OFF 120VAC power before HVDC power can result in equipment damage.
  5. Turn OFF Axial Enable, HVDC, and 120VAC switches on the Service Switch panel.
  6. Remove additional gantry covers as required.

    Refer to Parts Replacement > Gantry > Enclosure > (Cover Removal Procedure).

  7. Lock the gantry in position using the rotational lock.
  8. Unscrew four M6 screws, and remove the EMI shielding plate.
  9. Disconnect Fan AC power at Connector J22.
  10. Set air baffles on either end of the duct to the “Removal Position” (see Figure 1):
    1. Loosen knurl nuts
    2. Slide baffle into position
    3. Hand tighten knurl nuts

  11. Remove four (4) mounting bolts (2 at each end). See Figure 1.
  12. Carefully slide the plenum towards the front, without catching wires or Detector flexes.
  13. Set the plenum aside, on a clean surface.
  14. Continue with replacement procedures.

2 Plenum Installation

Procedure

  1. Ensure that baffles are secured in “REMOVAL POSITION”.

  2. Lift plenum into place, and align guide holes with guide pins.
  3. Slide plenum onto guide pins.
  4. Return baffles to the “OPERATING POSITION”.
  5. Install the EMI shielding plate using four M6 screws, lock washers, and flat washers. Torque to 7.9 N-m (69.9 in-lbs).
  6. Connect Fan AC power at Connector J22.
  7. Remove rotational lock, restore power and reassemble gantry covers.

3 Finalization

Procedure

  1. Ensure fans are functioning properly.
