Auxiliary Box Replacement

Prerequisites

Overview

This module shows how to:

  • Replace auxiliary box

  • Run application scan(s) to verify system operation

1 Auxiliary Box Removal

Procedure

    • warning
    • Potential for ShocK.
    • Voltage may be present.
    • Use proper lockout/tagout procedures before replacing components.
  1. Remove power to the gantry using proper Lockout / Tagout procedures.
  2. Remove gantry front and top covers.
  3. Rotate the gantry such that aux box assembly is in the 2 o'clock position. (If also changing Inverter, place the Aux Box at 1 o’clock.)
  4. Lock the gantry in position, using the rotational lock. Ensure that gantry rotation is locked by attempting to rotate the gantry by hand.
  5. Remove HV cable clamp from front of aux box. This is not part of the aux box assembly so you must keep the hardware.
  6. Remove HV cable bracket from the top of the aux box. This is not part of the aux box assembly so you must keep the hardware.
  7. Disconnect all wire connectors from the aux box. Keep any fasteners associated with the wiring.
  8. Remove the two mounting screws on the aux box bracket holding the assembly to the gantry. Take bolts and washer out to ease removal. If replacing the aux box, throw bolts and washers away, as the new equipment will come with new bolts.
    note:

    If new bolts are not supplied with the new aux box, then the existing bolts must be reused. Make certain to thoroughly clean all dried loctite from the bolts.

  9. Remove aux box.

2 Auxiliary Box Installation

Procedure

  1. Ensure that tagout / lockout procedure has been applied, and that gantry power is removed.
  2. Ensure that gantry rotational lock is engaged and gantry does not rotate by attempting to rotate gantry by hand.
  3. Attach new aux box to gantry. Route HVDC wires between Aux Box and Inverter. Use the slots on Aux Box chassis to place on gantry.
  4. Use supplied new M12 mounting bolts and washers, as well as blue loctite (242).

    If new bolts are not supplied, clean all dried loctite from existing bolts and apply new blue loctite (242).

    Apply “preload” torque:

  5. Apply final torque to the M12 mounting bolts:
  6. Reattach HV cable bracket to top of aux box.
  7. Reattach HV cable hooks to front of aux box.
  8. Reattach all cable connections.
  9. Reconnect X-Ray Tube stator cable. Attach stator cable and ground clamp to aux box using clamp located on left front of aux box.
  10. Reconnect HP Inverter harness connectors and clamps.

3 Finalization

Procedure

  1. After Auxiliary Box replacement, run System Scanning Test to verify that the system is operational.
