Streak Test

Prerequisites

Overview

This document provides the necessary steps to test for streak artifacts.

1 Phantom Setup

Procedure

  1. Move table to longitudinal home position.
  2. Attach phantom holder to gantry end of cradle.
  3. Mount phantom to phantom holder.
  4. Place bubble level on top of phantom, positioned along Z-axis. Adjust phantom holder back knob until phantom is level front to back.
  5. Turn on laser alignment lights.
  6. Move table into gantry until axial internal alignment lights are aligned with phantom's axial reference mark.
  7. Click SCANNER UTILITIES.
  8. Click CENTER PHANTOM.
  9. Click CONFIRM.
  10. Press START on SCIM when it flashes.
  11. Adjust phantom position if results are out of specification range.
    note:

    Phantom center specification is ± 0.5mm.

  12. Repeat steps [9] – [11] until phantom is centered.
  13. Click DONE in Phantom Centering window.
  14. Click QUIT in Scanner Utilities window.
  15. Set Internal Landmark.

2 Acquire Scans

Procedure

  1. Click NEW PATIENT.
  2. Type the following entries in the listed Patient Information fields:
    1. Patient ID: Service
    2. Patient Name: Streak Test
  3. Select Service tab from Protocol Selection, Anatomical Selector.
  4. Select IMAGE QUALITY, 44.5 STREAK TEST.
    note:

    Make sure the prescription is a single group axial protocol.

  5. Click CONFIRM.
  6. Click CONTINUE in Attention window.
  7. Press START on SCIM when it flashes.
  8. Click END EXAM.
  9. If PPS Response window is displayed, click COMPLETE.

3 Image Review

Procedure

  1. Select ImageWorks desktop.
  2. Select scanned examination from List/Select browser.
  3. Click VIEWER and review all images for streak artifacts.
  4. Perform Streak Analysis on images with streak artifacts.

4 Streak Analysis

Procedure

  1. Select SERVICE desktop and move Service desktop to left monitor.
  2. Select IMAGE QUALITY from Service Desktop.
  3. Select IMAGE ANALYSIS and move Image Analysis window to left monitor.
  4. Select image from right monitor List/Select browser.
  5. Click MANUAL radio button on Image Analysis window.
  6. Click MANUAL selection button, STREAKS.
  7. Click ACCEPT. The image is displayed in the Image Analysis window with a Streak ROI.
  8. Follow instructions in Image Analysis window lower right pane to size Streak ROI and analyze.
  9. From Report window, if Measured Streak Factor is out of specification range +/-4.0, perform Image Quality Troubleshooting in accordance with prescribed procedures.
  10. Click DISMISS in Report window.
  11. Click QUIT in Image Analysis window.

5 Finalization
