HP Host Computer Z800 RAID Controller

Prerequisites

Overview

Procedure

  1. Select one of the following methods to Power OFF the Operator Console:
    1. If Applications are up, click on the Shut Down button and select Shutdown.

      The Operator Console monitor will display a 'Power Down' message when it is acceptable to power OFF the Operator Console.

    2. If Applications are down, open a Unix Shell. Type: halt.
  2. Power OFF the console at the front panel switch.
  3. Remove the left side cover from the console.

    Refer to Replacement > Console > (Console Cover Removal and Installation Procedure).

  4. Remove the following components from the host computer (Z800):
    • Side Access Panel

    • Expansion Card Support

    • FDIP Card

    • FX1800 Graphic Card

    • NIC Card

  5. Replace the existing RAID controller with new one.

    There are two types of RAID Controllers, Model number LSI8888 and LSI9260-8i, they have different connector location for MiniSAS cables. Refer to the following pictures for details.

    note:

    When you replace from LSI8888 to LSI9260-8i, you also need to replace MiniSAS cable with longer one which is included in LSI9260-8i FRU kit.

  6. Reinstall all removed components, and reconnect any cables that have been disconnected.

Finalization

  1. Execute “Recreate Scan Disk Array” from Reconfig menu. (all scan date will be lost.)
  2. Refer to System Scanning Test to confirm proper operation.
  3. Reinstall the console covers.
