(13HW38.14) Service Pack 2.2 Installation Procedure

Prerequisites

Overview

This procedure describes 13HW38.14 Service Pack 2.2 installation procedure.

The Service Pack 2.2 software CDROM contains Service Pack 1.0, Service Pack 2.0, Service Pack 2.1 and Service Pack 2.2 patches.

1 Check software version currently installed

Procedure

  1. Open a Unix shell.
  2. Type swhwinfoENTER

    Confirm that the base software version is 13HW38.14.

2 Service Pack Installation

Procedure

  1. Open a Unix shell.
  2. If Application software is up, perform the following command.

    {ctuser@hostname} cleanMon

  3. In the Unix Shell, become root:
    1. {ctuser@hostname} su -
    2. Password: <password>
  4. Insert the Service Pack CD into DVD drive in the host.
  5. Perform the following steps to install the Service Pack CD:
    1. [root@hostname]# patch_install -c
      note:

      If Service Pack 1.0 is already installed, go to Step 5.e.

    2. The following message is displayed.
      note:

      The message may be different from below depending on the service pack already installed.


      These patches from cdrom will be installed:
      13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack1.0
      13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.0
      13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.1
      13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.2
      -------------------------------------------
      I will install update 13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack1.0 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]
                        

    3. Input y to install Service Pack 1.0.
    4. Confirm “Update13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack1.0 has been installed successfully” message.
      note:

      If Service Pack 2.0 is already installed, go to Step 5.h.

    5. The following message is displayed.


      I will install update 13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.0 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]
                        

    6. Input y to install Service Pack 2.0.
    7. Confirm “Update 13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.0 has been installed successfully” message.
      note:

      If Service Pack 2.1 is already installed, go to Step 5.k.

    8. The following message is displayed.


      I will install update 13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.1 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]
                        

    9. Input y to install Service Pack 2.1.
    10. Confirm “Update 13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.1 has been installed successfully” message.
    11. The following message is displayed.


      I will install update 13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.2 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]
                        

    12. Input y to install Service Pack 2.2.
    13. Confirm “Update 13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.2 has been installed successfully” message.
  6. Check Software Version:
    1. Type: [root@hostname]# swhwinfoENTER
    2. System should reply with a response similar to the following:

      13HW38.14_SP2-2-2 <hw info (ex. H40_PN_CM64_G_GTL) >

  7. Remove the Service Pack CD from Host DVD drive.
  8. Perform the following post install steps:
    1. [root@hostname]# reboot
    2. Perform Flash Download.

3 How to uninstall Service Pack

Procedure

  1. Open a Unix shell.
  2. If Application software is up, perform the following command.

    {ctuser@hostname} cleanMon

  3. In the Unix Shell, become root:
    1. {ctuser@hostname} su -
    2. Password: <password>
  4. Perform the following steps to uninstall the Service Pack CD:
    1. [root@hostname]# patch_install -u
    2. The following message is displayed.


      The following patches are installed on system:
      ----------------------------------------------
      13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.2
      13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.1
      13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.0
      13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack1.0
      ----------------------------------------------
      I will uninstall update 13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.2, is this ok? [y/n]
                        

    3. Input y to uninstall Service Pack 2.2.
    4. The following message is displayed.


      I will uninstall update 13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.1, is this ok? [y/n]
                        

    5. Input y to uninstall Service Pack 2.1.
    6. The following message is displayed.


      I will uninstall update 13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack2.0, is this ok? [y/n]
                        

    7. Input y to uninstall Service Pack 2.0.
    8. The following message is displayed.


      I will uninstall update 13HW38.14_GEHCServicePack1.0, is this ok? [y/n]
                        

    9. Input y to uninstall Service Pack 1.0.
  5. Perform the following post uninstall steps:
    1. [root@hostname]# reboot
    2. Perform Flash Download.

4 Finalization

No finalization steps.
