2 Procedure Overview

This procedure describes 16HW45.1 Service Pack 1.3 installation procedure.

The Service Pack 1.3 software CDROM contains Service Pack 1.0, 1.1 , 1.2 and 1.3 patches.

4 Procedure

4.1 Check software version currently installed

  1. Open a Unix shell.

  2. Type swhwinfo <ENTER>

  3. Verify that the base software version is 16HW45.1

4.2 Service Pack Installation

  1. If application software is up, perform Application Shutdown from Common Service Desktop.

  2. Open a Unix shell.

  3. In the Unix Shell, become root:

    1. {ctuser@hostname} su -

    2. Password: <password>

  4. Insert the Service Pack CD into DVD drive in the host.

  5. Perform the following steps to install the Service Pack:

    1. [root@hostname]# patch_install -c

    2. The following message is displayed.

      note:

      The message may be different from below depending on the service pack already installed.

      These patches from cdrom will be installed:

      16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.0

      16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.1

      16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.2

      16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.3

      I will install update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.0 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

    3. Input y to install Service Pack 1.0.

    4. Confirm “Update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.0 has been installed successfully” message.

    5. The following message is displayed.

      note:

      The message may be different from below depending on the service pack already installed.

      Update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.0 has been installed successfully.

      I will install update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.1 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

    6. Input y to install Service Pack 1.1.

    7. Confirm “Update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.1 has been installed successfully” message.

    8. The following message is displayed.

      I will install update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.2 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

      Input y to install Service Pack 1.2.

    9. Confirm “Update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.2 has been installed successfully” message.
    10. The following message is diaplayed.

      I will install update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.3 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

      Input y to install Service Pack 1.3.

    11. Confirm “Update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.3 has been installed successfully” message.

  6. Check Software Version:

    1. Type: [root@hostname]# swhwinfo ENTER

    2. System should reply with a response similar to the following:

      16HW45.1_SP1-3-1 <hw info (ex. H40_P2_SS64_G_GTL) >

  7. Remove the Service Pack CD from Host DVD drive.

  8. Reboot the system:

    [root@hostname]# reboot

  9. Perform Flash Download.

6 Appendix – How to uninstall Service Pack

  1. If Application software is up, perform Application Shutdown from Common Service Desktop.

  2. Open a Unix shell.

  3. In the Unix Shell, become root:

    1. {ctuser@hostname} su -

    2. Password: <password>

  4. Perform the following steps to uninstall the Service Pack CD:

    1. [root@hostname]# patch_install -u

    2. The following message is displayed.

      The following patches are installed on system:

      16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.3

      16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.2

      16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.1

      16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.0

      ----------------------------------------------

      I will uninstall update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.3, is this ok? [y/n]

      Input y to uninstall Service Pack 1.3.

      I will uninstall update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.2, is this ok? [y/n]

    3. Input y to uninstall Service Pack 1.2.

    4. I will uninstall update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.1, is this ok? [y/n]

    5. Input y to uninstall Service Pack 1.1.

    6. I will uninstall update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.0, is this ok? [y/n]

      Input y to uninstall Service Pack 1.0.

    7. Confirm the following message.

      Update 16HW45.1_GEHCServicePack1.3 has been uninstalled successfully.

  5. Reboot the system:

    [root@hostname]# reboot

  6. Perform Flash Download.
