NIO16 Host Computer (Z820) KDIP Card Replacement

Prerequisites

TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO COMPONENTS WITHIN THE Z820, OBSERVE THE FOLLOWING ESD PRECAUTIONS:
- WORK ON A STATIC-FREE MAT.
- WEAR A STATIC STRAP TO ENSURE THAT ANY ACCUMULATED ELECTROSTATIC CHARGE IS DISCHARGED FROM YOUR BODY TO GROUND.
- CREATE A COMMON GROUND FOR THE EQUIPMENT YOU ARE WORKING ON BY CONNECTING THE STATIC-FREE MAT, STATIC STRAP AND PERIPHERAL UNITS TO THAT PIECE OF EQUIPMENT.

This procedure shall be followed when replacing the KDIP Card in the NIO16 host computer (Z820).

Select one of the following methods to Power OFF the Operator Console:
1. If Applications are up, click on the Shut Down button and select Shutdown.
  
  The Operator Console monitor will display a 'Power Down' message when it is acceptable to power OFF the Operator Console.
2. If Applications are down, open a Unix Shell. Type: halt.
Power OFF the console at the front panel switch.
Remove the left side cover from the console.

Refer to Replacement > Console > (Console Cover Removal and Installation Procedure).
Remove the following components from the host computer (Z820):
- Side Access Panel
- Expansion Card Support
Disconnect all cables.
Replace the existing z820 KDIP card with new one. The KDIP card should be installed on slot 1
Reinstall all removed components, and reconnect any cables that have been disconnected.

Install console covers. Refer to Replacement → Console → Console Cover Removal and Installation Procedure.
Perform the Functional Checks → System Scanning Test instructions from the procedure list.
