HP Host Computer Z800 FX4800 Graphic Card Replacement

Prerequisites

Procedure

  1. Select one of the following methods to Power OFF the Operator Console:
    1. If Applications are up, click on the Shut Down button and select Shutdown.

      The Operator Console monitor will display a 'Power Down' message when it is acceptable to power OFF the Operator Console.

    2. If Applications are down, open a Unix Shell. Type: halt.
  2. Power OFF the console at the front panel switch when ‘System Halted’ message is displayed.
  3. Remove the left side and rear covers from the console.

    Refer to Replacement > Console > Console Cover Removal and Installation Procedure.

  4. Remove the following components sequence:
    • Side Access Panel

    • Left Side Cover of Host Computer

    • Airflow Guide and Expansion Card Support

  5. Disconnect the power cable from the FX4800 graphic card, press the card slot release lever and pull out the old graphic card.
  6. Replace the existing FX4800 graphic card with new one, insert in slot #5.
  7. Reconnect any cables that have been disconnected and reinstall all removed components.

Finalization

  1. Power on console and open a shell, then type:

    cat /proc/driver/nvidia/cards/*

  2. Check the result shown as below: Model: Quadro FX 4800
  3. Refer to System Scanning Test to confirm proper operation.
  4. Reinstall the console covers.
