Peripheral Tower Functional Test (PMT-20/PMT-21/PMT-22)

This procedure apply for PMT-20/PMT-21/PMT-22

This document describes the steps necessary to test the functionality of the Peripheral Tower Optical Drives for USB Peripheral Towers. The test method utilizes system functionality for accessing and writing data to the DVD optical drives. Full details can be found in the Managing Images section of the Optima Learning and Reference Guide

1 Verify DVD Optical Drive

1.1 Save System State

Procedure

  1. Perform a Save System State per Software - Software Installation Procedures (LFC)- System State Save and Restore in the service manual.
  2. To test DVD writing capability, perform a save System State using the Utilities under the CSD.

1.2 Verify Save System State

Procedure

  1. Open up a Linux Terminal Window and type:

    mountDVD ENTER

  2. To view the contents of the DVD, type:

    ls -l /DVD ENTER

  3. To remove the DVD disk from the drive, first un-mount it by typing:

    unmountDVD ENTER

1.3 Save Exam/Series/Images using DVD Interchange Option

Interchange Option is used to write or recall images from a DVD in DICOM format. DVD cannot be selected as the default archive device. Exam, series, or images will not be marked as archived. A DICOM viewer is stored on the media so the images can be viewed on a PC. The media is write-once and all selections must be queued at the same time. Approximately 7000 images can be stored to a 4.7 gb DVD.

    • A new DVD optical disk media must be used.
  1. With the desired DVD in the DVD optical drive, select the Image Works desktop. This is located in the upper left corner of the display monitor.
  2. Select the exam(s), series, or image(s) to be saved to the disk. To aid in this, The Sort and Selection menu on the browser can be used.
  3. Click DVD. The DVD composer window appears.
  4. Click Add Exams, Add Series, or Clear.
    note:

    Add Exams adds all of the exams that are selected. Add Series adds all of the series that are selected. Clear deletes all selections.

  5. Click Copy.
    note:

    Copy burns the images into the disk.

  6. Click Yes on the copy confirmation window.

    The Interchange Media Browser appears, which shows the selections and progress of storage. A window appears stating “Restore or Copy completed successfully.”

  7. Click Ok.
  8. Click Eject, to eject the DVD from the DVD drive.

1.4 Verify that Exam/Series/Images On DVD Storage Media

Procedure

  1. Insert the burned DVD optical disk in laptop.
  2. Using File Explorer, navigate to the DVD drive on laptop and select the DICOM Viewer program.
  3. Verify that the data saved to the DVD optical disk is viewable using the DICOM Viewer program.

2 Verify USB Port

2.1 Save System State

note:

When performing Save/Restore System State, check to ensure there is no two or more USB storage devices (SSA Key or other mobile storage devices) plugged in Console/Tower at the same time which may result in incorrect data storage.

Procedure

  1. Perform a Save System State per Software - Software Installation Procedures (LFC)- System State Save and Restore in the service manual.
  2. To test USB capability, perform a save System State – USB using the Utilities under the CSD.

2.2 Save Exam/Series/Images using USB

When performing Save Exam/Series/Images, check to ensure there is no two or more USB storage devices (SSA Key or other mobile storage devices) plugged in Console/Tower at the same time which may result in incorrect data storage.

Procedure

  1. With the desired USB to tower, select the [Image Works] desktop. This is located in the upper left corner of the display monitor.
  2. Select the exam(s), series, or image(s) to be saved to the USB. To aid in this, The Sort and Selection menu on the browser can be used.
  3. Click USB. The USB composer window appears.
  4. Click Add Exams, Add Series, or Clear.

    Add Exams adds all of the exams that are selected. Add Series adds all of the series that are selected. Clear deletes all selections.

  5. Click Copy.

    Copy burns the images into the disk.

  6. Click Yes on the copy confirmation window.
