(16HW36.4) Service Pack 2.1 Installation Procedure

Prerequisites

Overview

This procedure describes 16HW36.x Service Pack 2.1 installation procedure for GOC6.6 (Z840).

The Service Pack 2.1 software CDROM contains Service Pack 1.0, Service Pack 2.0 and Service Pack 2.1 patches.

The Service Pack 2.1 is NOT applicable for GOC5, 6, 6.5 and GOC6.6(Z820).

1 Preparation for Installation

Procedure

  1. Check the current software version by the following command.

    {ctuser@hostname} swhwinfo Enter

    Example: 16HW36.4_SP2-0-1.V40_H_HS64_G_GTL

    If the output contains SP2-1-x, SP2.1 is already installed. No need to install it.

    If the output contains SP2-0-x, SP2.0 is installed. Go to section 4.2 Service Pack 2.1 Installation (on SP2-0-x software).

    If the output contains SP1-0-x, SP1.0 is installed. Go to section 4.3 Service Pack 2.1 Installation (on SP1-0-x software).

    If the output is just 16HW36.4, no SP is installed. Go to section 4.4 Service Pack 2.1 Installation (on no SP software).

    If the output is not equal to 16HW36.4, system software version is different, do not execute the procedure.

  2. Check Exam Split Type.

    Type swokinstall -p

    If Exam Split option is displayed, execute the following

    Type ls –l ~ctuser/ves/.hesModeEnter

    If there is .hesMode file, it’s HES mode.

    If not, It’s VES mode.

    This will be used at reinstall option.

2 Service Pack 2.1 Installation (on SP2-0-x software)

Procedure

  1. Execute “Save Runtime Parameters” from Generator tool – JEDI in Diagnostic tab of CSD menu.
  2. Open a Unix shell.
  3. If Application software is up, perform the following command in the Unix shell.

    {ctuser@hostname} cleanMon

  4. In the Unix Shell, become root:
    1. {ctuser@hostname} su -
    2. Password: <password>
  5. Insert the Service Pack CD into DVD drive in the host.
  6. Perform the following steps to install the Service Pack CD:
    1. [root@hostname]# patch_install -c
    2. The following messages is displayed.


      These patches from cdrom will be installed:
      16HW36.4_GEHCServicePack2.1
      ------------------------------------------
      I will install update 16HW36.4_GEHCServicePack2.1 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

                        

    3. Input y to install Service Pack 2.1.

      The following message appears after completion of SP2.1 installation.


      ###############################################################
      # Execute reconfig in order to set Bearing type (Ball/Liquid) #
      # after SP2.1 installation completion.                        #
      ###############################################################

                        

    4. Confirm the “Update 16HW36.4_GEHCServciePack2.1 has been installed successfully” message.
  7. Check Software version:
    1. Type: [root@hostname]# swhwinfo ENTER
    2. System should reply with a response as the following:

      16HW36.4_SP2-1-X.<hw info (ex. V40_H_H64_G_GTL) >

  8. Go to reconfig. menu and set Bearing type to match the currently installed X-ray Tube. Refer to System Configuration (12HW14.6 SP2.1 or later).

    Reboot is executed during reconfig when bearing type was updated. In this case, skip step 10 “Reboot the system”.

  9. Remove the Service Pack CD from Host DVD drive.
  10. Reboot the system:

    [root@hostname]# reboot

  11. Execute “Flash Download” in Utilities tab of CSD menu.
  12. Type “swhwinfo” in command window and confirm that the tube type is same as bearing type in reconfig.

    Example of strings: 16HW36.4_SP2-1-1.V40_NV_V64_G_GTM in case of VCT Liquid Bearing.

    • Ball Bearing : H

    • Liquid Bearing: NV

  13. Execute “Restore Runtime Parameters” from Generator tool – JEDI in Diagnostic tab of CSD menu.
  14. Execute “Generator Filament Calibration” in Calibration tab of CSD menu.
  15. Perform sanity scan with the following technique and confirm they completed successfully.

    Scout, Axial and Helical.

3 Service Pack 2.1 Installation (on SP1-0-x software)

Procedure

  1. Execute “Save Runtime Parameters” from Generator tool – JEDI in Diagnostic tab of CSD menu.
  2. Open a Unix shell.
  3. If Application software is up, perform the following command in the Unix shell.

    {ctuser@hostname} cleanMon

  4. In the Unix Shell, become root:
    1. {ctuser@hostname} su -
    2. Password: <password>
  5. Insert the Service Pack CD into DVD drive in the host.
  6. Perform the following steps to install the Service Pack CD:
    1. [root@hostname]# patch_install -c
    2. The following messages is displayed.


      These patches from cdrom will be installed:
      16HW36.4_GEHCServicePack2.0
      ------------------------------------------
      I will install update 16HW36.4_GEHCServicePack2.1 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

                        

    3. Input y to install Service Pack 2.0.

      The following message appears after completion of SP2.0 installation, ignore it at this timing. This will be done later.


      ###############################################################
      # Execute reconfig in order to set Bearing type (Ball/Liquid) #
      # after SP2.0 installation completion.                        #
      ###############################################################

                        

    4. Confirm the “Update 16HW36.4_GEHCServciePack2.0 has been installed successfully” message.
    5. The following messages is displayed.


      These patches from cdrom will be installed:
      16HW36.4_GEHCServicePack2.1
      ------------------------------------------
      I will install update 12HW14.6_GEHCServicePack2.1 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

                        

    6. Input y to install Service Pack 2.1.

      The following message appears after completion of SP2.1 installation, this will be done later.


      ###############################################################
      # Execute reconfig in order to set Bearing type (Ball/Liquid) #
      # after SP2.1 installation completion.                        #
      ###############################################################

                        

    7. Confirm the “Update 16HW36.4_GEHCServciePack2.1 has been installed successfully” message.
  7. Check Software version:
    1. Type: [root@hostname]# swhwinfo ENTER
    2. System should reply with a response as the following:

      16HW36.4_SP2-1-X.<hw info (ex. V40_H_H64_G_GTL) >

  8. Go to reconfig. menu and set Bearing type to match the currently installed X-ray Tube. Refer to System Configuration (12HW14.6 SP2.1 or later).

  2. Open a Unix shell.
  3. If Application software is up, perform the following command in the Unix shell.

    {ctuser@hostname} cleanMon

  4. In the Unix Shell, become root:
    1. {ctuser@hostname} su -
    2. Password: <password>
  5. Insert the Service Pack CD into DVD drive in the host.
  6. Perform the following steps to install the Service Pack CD:
    1. [root@hostname]# patch_install -c
    2. The following message is displayed.

      16HW36.4_GEHCServicePack1.0
      ------------------------------------------
      I will install update 16HW36.4_GEHCServicePack1.0 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

                        

    3. Input y to install Service Pack 1.0.
    4. Confirm the “Update 16HW36.4_GEHCServciePack1.0 has been installed successfully” message.
    5. The following message is displayed.


      These patches from cdrom will be installed:
      16HW36.4_GEHCServicePack2.0
      ------------------------------------------
      I will install update 16HW36.4_GEHCServicePack2.0 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

                        

    6. Input y to install Service Pack 2.0.

      The following message appears after completion of SP2.1 installation, this will be done later.


      ###############################################################
      # Execute reconfig in order to set Bearing type (Ball/Liquid) #
      # after SP2.0 installation completion.                        #
      ###############################################################

                        

    7. Confirm the ““Update 16HW36.4_GEHCServciePack2.0 has been installed successfully” message.
    8. The following messages is displayed.


      These patches from cdrom will be installed:
      16HW36.4_GEHCServicePack2.1
      ------------------------------------------
      I will install update 16HW36.4_GEHCServicePack2.1 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

                        

    9. Input y to install Service Pack 2.1.

      The following message appears after completion of SP2.1 installation, this will be done later.

      # Execute reconfig in order to set Bearing type (Ball/Liquid) #
      # after SP2.1 installation completion.                        #
      ###############################################################

                        

    10. Confirm the “Update 16HW36.4_GEHCServciePack2.1 has been installed successfully” message.
  7. Check Software Version:
    1. Type: [root@hostname]# swhwinfo ENTER
    2. System should reply with a response similar to the following:

      16HW36.4_SP2-1-X.<hw info (ex. V40_H_H64_G_GTL) >

  8. Go to reconfig. menu and set Bearing type to match the currently installed X-ray Tube. Refer to System Configuration (12HW14.6 SP2.1 or later).

    Reboot is executed during reconfig when bearing type was updated. In this case, skip step 10 “Reboot the system”.

  9. Remove the Service Pack CD from Host DVD drive.
  10. Reboot the system:

    [root@hostname]# reboot

5 Appendix - Service Pack 2.1 Uninstallation

Procedure

  1. Execute “Save Runtime Parameters” from Generator tool – JEDI in Diagnostic tab of CSD menu.
  2. Execute “Save System State”. in Utilities tab of CSD menu.
  3. In a Unix Shell, type cleanMon Enter to shutdown application.
  4. In a Unix Shell, type su - Enter to be root user.
  5. Type patch_install -u Enter . Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
    note:

    It may take 3~4 min., please wait.

  6. Verify all of patches uninstalled with “Successful” message is displayed, then type reboot Enter to reboot the system.
  7. Open a Unix shell, and type swhwinfo Enter. Confirm that the output does not contain “SP” and will look like this:

    16HW36.4.V40_H_HS64_G_GTL.

  8. Execute “Flash Download” in Utilities tab of CSD menu.
  9. Execute “Restore Runtime Parameters” from Generator tool – JEDI in Diagnostic tab of CSD menu.
  10. Execute “Generator Filament Calibration” in Calibration tab of CSD menu.
  11. Perform sanity scan with the following technique and confirm they completed successfully.

    Scout, Axial and Helical.
