(12HW14.6) Service Pack 2.4 Installation Procedure

Prerequisites

Overview

This procedure describes 12HW14.6 Service Pack 2.4 installation procedure.

The Service Pack 2.4 software CDROM contains Service Pack 1.1, Service Pack 2.0, Service Pack 2.1, Service Pack2.2, Service Pack2.3 and Service Pack 2.4 patches.

The Service Pack 2.4 is NOT available for GOC6.6. See the following details of GOC6.6 configuration.

  • GOC6.6 Z820: Software 13HW31.8 with any Service packs.

  • GOC6.6 Z840: Software 16HW36.4 with any Service packs.

1 Preparation for Installation

Procedure

  1. Check the current software version by the following command.

    {ctuser@hostname} swhwinfo

    Example: 12HW14.6_SP2-0-1.V40_H_HS64_G_GTL

    If the output contains SP2-4-x, SP2.4 is already installed. No need to install it.

    If the output contains SP2-3-x, SP2.3 is installed. Go to section 4.2 Service Pack 2.4 Installation (on SP2-3-x software).

    If the output contains SP2-2-x, SP2.2 is installed. Go to section 4.3 Service Pack 2.4 Installation (on SP2-2-x software).

    If the output contains SP2-1-x, SP2.1 is installed. Go to section 4.4 Service Pack 2.4 Installation (on SP2-1-x software).

    If the output contains SP2-0-x, SP2.0 is installed. Go to section 4.5 Service Pack 2.4 Installation (on SP2-0-x software).

    If the output contains SP1-1-1, SP1.1 is installed. Go to section 4.6 Service Pack 2.4 Installation (on SP1-1-1 software).

    If the output contains SP1-0-x, SP1.0 is installed, need to uninstall it at first (Because SP1.0 shall be replaced with SP1.1). Go to section 4.7 Service Pack 2.4 Installation (on SP1-0-1 software).

    If the output is just 12HW14.6 (no service pack), execute (12HW14.6) Service Pack 1.1 Installation Procedure at first using Service Pack 2.4 CD-ROM, then go to section 4.6 Service Pack 2.4 Installation (on SP1-1-1 software) to install SP2.0, 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4.

    If the output is not equal to 12HW14.6, system software version is different, do not execute the procedure.

  2. Check Exam Split Type.

    Type swokinstall -p Enter

    If Exam Split option is displayed, execute the following.

    Type ls -l ~ctuser/ves/.hesMode Enter

    If there is .hesMode file, it’s HES mode.

    If not, It’s VES mode.

    This will be used at reinstall option.

2 Service Pack 2.4 Installation (on SP2-3-x software)

Procedure

  1. Execute “Save Runtime Parameters” from Generator tool – JEDI in Diagnostic tab of CSD menu.
  2. Open a Unix shell.
  3. If Application software is up, perform the following command in the Unix shell.

    {ctuser@hostname} cleanMon

  4. In the Unix Shell, become root:
    1. {ctuser@hostname} su -
    2. Password: <password>
  5. Insert the Service Pack CD into DVD drive in the host.
  6. Perform the following steps to install the Service Pack CD:
    1. [root@hostname]# patch_install -c
    2. The following messages is displayed.


      These patches from cdrom will be installed:
      12HW14.6_GEHCServicePack2.4
      ------------------------------------------
      I will install update 12HW14.6_GEHCServicePack2.4 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

                        

    3. Input y to install Service Pack 2.4.

      The following message appears after completion of SP2.4 installation.


      ###############################################################
      # Execute reconfig in order to set Bearing type (Ball/Liquid) #
      # after SP2.4 installation completion.                        #
      ###############################################################

                        

    4. Confirm the “Update 12HW14.6_GEHCServciePack2.4 has been installed successfully” message.
  7. Check Software version:
    1. Type: [root@hostname]# swhwinfo ENTER
    2. System should reply with a response as the following:

      12HW14.6_SP2-4-X. <hw info (ex. V40_H_H64_G_GTL) >

  8. Go to reconfig. menu and set Bearing type to match the currently installed X-ray Tube. Refer to System Configuration (12HW14.6 SP2.1 or later).
  9. Remove the Service Pack CD from Host DVD drive.
  10. Reboot the system:

    [root@hostname]# reboot

  11. Execute “Flash Download” in Utilities tab of CSD menu.
  12. Type “swhwinfo” in command window and confirm that the tube type is same as bearing type in reconfig.

    Example of strings: 12HW14.6_SP2-4-1.V40_NV_V64_G_GTM in case of VCT Liquid Bearing.

    • Ball Bearing : H

    • Liquid Bearing: NV

  13. Execute “Restore Runtime Parameters” from Generator tool – JEDI in Diagnostic tab of CSD menu.
  14. Execute “Generator Filament Calibration” in Calibration tab of CSD menu.
  15. Perform sanity scan with the following technique and confirm they completed successfully.

    Scout, Axial and Helical.

3 Service Pack 2.4 Installation (on SP2-2-x software)

  2. Open a Unix shell.
  3. If Application software is up, perform the following command in the Unix shell.

    {ctuser@hostname} cleanMon

  4. In the Unix Shell, become root:
    1. {ctuser@hostname} su -
    2. Password: <password>
  5. Insert the Service Pack CD into DVD drive in the host.
  6. Perform the following steps to install the Service Pack CD:
    1. [root@hostname]# patch_install -c
    2. The following messages is displayed.


      These patches from cdrom will be installed:
      12HW14.6_GEHCServicePack2.3
      ------------------------------------------
      I will install update 12HW14.6_GEHCServicePack2.3 from CDROM, is this ok ? [y/n]

                        

    3. Input y to install Service Pack 2.3

      The following message appears after completion of SP2.3 installation. Ignore to do it this timing. The bearing type setting will be done after SP2.4 installation.

    4. Confirm the “Update 12HW14.6_GEHCServciePack2.3 has been installed successfully” message.

    6. Input y to install Service Pack 2.4.

      The following message appears after completion of SP2.4 installation.

    7. Confirm the “Update 12HW14.6_GEHCServciePack2.4 has been installed successfully” message.
  7. Check Software Version:
    1. Type: [root@hostname]# swhwinfo ENTER
    2. System should reply with a response similar to the following:

      12HW14.6_SP2-4-X. <hw info (ex. V40_H_H64_G_GTL) >

  8. Go to reconfig. menu and set Bearing type to match the currently installed X-ray Tube. Refer to System Configuration (12HW14.6 SP2.1 or later).

    Reboot is executed during reconfig when bearing type was updated. In this case, skip step 9 “Reboot the system”.

  9. Remove the Service Pack CD from Host DVD drive.
  10. Reboot the system:

    [root@hostname]# reboot

  11. Execute “Flash Download” in Utilities tab of CSD menu.
  12. Type “swhwinfo” in command window and confirm that the tube type is same as bearing type in reconfig.

    Example of strings: 12HW14.6_SP2-4-1.V40_NV_V64_G_GTM in case of VCT Liquid Bearing.

  3. If Application software is up, perform the following command.

  5. Insert the Service Pack CD into DVD drive in the host.
  6. Perform the following steps to install the Service Pack CD:

  8. Go to reconfig. menu and set Bearing type to match the currently installed X-ray Tube. Refer to System Configuration (12HW14.6 SP2.1 or later).

    16. Confirm the “Update 12HW14.6_GEHCServicePack2.4 has been installed successfully” message.

      12HW14.6_SP2-3-X. <hw info (ex. V40_H_H64_G_GTL) >

  8. Go to reconfig. menu and set Bearing type to match the currently installed X-ray Tube. Refer to System Configuration (12HW14.6 SP2.1 or later).

    Reboot is executed during reconfig when bearing type was updated. In this case, skip step 9 “Reboot the system”.

  10. Reboot the system:

7 Service Pack 2.4 Installation (on SP1-0-1 software)

note:

In case of SP1.0 is installed, need to uninstall options, uninstall SP1.0 at first, then install SP1.1, install SP2.0, SP2.1, SP2.2, SP2.3, SP2.4 and install options.

Procedure

  1. Execute “Save Runtime Parameters” from Generator tool – JEDI in Diagnostic tab of CSD menu.
  2. Perform Save State.
  3. Uninstall the following options (if installed) using the Install Options menu in the Configuration Tab in Common Service Desktop.
    • AdvVesselAnalysis

    • AutoBone

    • CardEP

    • CardIQPlus

    • CTColonoPro

    • CTPerfusion4

    • CTPerfusion4Neuro

    • VolumeViewer

  4. Open a Unix shell.
  5. Shutdown Application (if up). Type cleanMon ENTER .
  6. Uninstall SP1.0.
    1. Type su - ENTER to be root user.
    2. Type patch_install –u ENTER. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
    3. Verify that patch uninstalled with “Successful” message is displayed, then type rebootENTER to reboot the system.
    4. Open a Unix shell, and type swhwinfo ENTER . Confirm that the output does not contain “SP1.0”.
  7. Insert the Service Pack 2.4 CD-ROM into the Host DVD drive.
  8. Delete the old patch file, type the following commands.
    1. su - ENTER to be root user.
    2. mount /mnt/cdrom
    3. /mnt/cdrom/scripts/remove_oldrpm
    4. Confirm that the command prompt is displayed.
  9. Type patch_install –c ENTER. Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.

    Install SP1.1, SP2.0, SP2.1, SP2.2, SP2.3 and SP2.4 continuously.

    note:

    It may take 3~4 min., please wait.

  10. Verify “Successful” message is displayed.
  11. When the Host PC is XW8200 with FX1400/FX1500 Graphic card, the following message is displayed. In this case, execute the following steps to update Display Driver. If the message is not displayed, type reboot [ENTER] and skip to step 13 and ignore Flash Download if requested.

  12. Type init 3 ENTER to shut down the [X Window]. The monitor will be changed to a black screen, and will appear with a text of shutdown.
  13. Hold down the Alt key and then press the F6 key once, the login prompt will appear, and login as user name “root”. (It takes about 1 min. to log in.)
  14. Type patch_nvdriver ENTER .

    After displaying a “Successful” message and a reboot request message, press Enter to reboot.

    note:

    Flash Download may be requested, but ignore it. Flash Download will be executed later.

  15. Remove Patch CD-ROM from Host DVD drive.
  16. Open a Unix shell and type swhwinfo ENTER .

    The output should contain “SP2.4” and will look as: 12HW14.6_SP2-4-X.V40_H_HS64_G_GTL.

  17. Restore State (Reconfig Info only) to reinstall the options previously removed, then restart the system.
  18. Confirm the following options has been reinstalled.
    • AdvVesselAnalysis

    • AutoBone

    • CardEP

    • CardIQPlus

    • CTColonoPro

    • CTPerfusion4

    • CTPerfusion4Neuro

    • VolumeViewer

  19. Go to reconfig. menu and set Bearing type to match the currently installed X-ray Tube. Refer to System Configuration (12HW14.6 SP2.1 or later).
  20. Execute “Flash Download” in Utilities tab of CSD menu.
  21. Type “swhwinfo” in command window and confirm that the tube type is same as bearing type in reconfig.

    Example of strings: 12HW14.6_SP2-4-1.V40_NV_V64_G_GTM in case of VCT Liquid Bearing.

    • Ball Bearing : H

    • Liquid Bearing: NV

  22. Execute “Restore Runtime Parameters” from Generator tool – JEDI in Diagnostic tab of CSD menu.
  23. Execute “Generator Filament Calibration” in Calibration tab of CSD menu.
  24. Perform sanity scan with the following technique and confirm they completed successfully.

    Scout, Axial and Helical.

8 Flash Download failure recovery

When Flash Download failed at JEDI appl.mx loading, execute the following.

Procedure

  1. Press Dismiss button to quit the Flash Download Tool.
  2. Execute Scan Hardware reset from System reset.
  3. Execute “Flash Download” in Utilities tab of CSD menu and press Update button.
  4. Press “Query” button of Flash Download Tool and confirm all of firmware status are OK.

9 Appendix - Service Pack 2.4 Uninstallation

  2. Execute “Save System State”.
  3. Open a Unix shell and check Exam Split type.

    Type swokinstall –p ENTER

    If the Exam Split option is installed, execute the following.

    Type ls –l ~ctuser/ves/.hesMode ENTER

    If there is .hesMode file, it’s HES mode.

    If not, it’s VES mode.

    This will be used at reinstall option.

  4. Uninstall the following options (if installed) using the Install Options menu in the Configuration Tab in Common Service Desktop.
    • AdvVesselAnalysis

    • AutoBone

    • CardEP

    • CardIQPlus

    • CTColonoPro

    • CTPerfusion4

    • CTPerfusion4Neuro

    • VolumeViewer

  5. In a Unix Shell, type cleanMon ENTER to shutdown application.
  6. Type su - ENTER to be root user and type init 3 ENTER to shut down the [X Window]. The monitor will be changed to a black screen, and will appear with a text of shutdown.
  7. Hold down the Alt key and then press the F6 key once, the login prompt will appear, and login as user name “root”. (It takes about 1 min. to log in.)
  8. Type patch_nvdriver –u ENTER .

    After displaying “NVIDIA driver has been updated” message and a reboot request message, press Enter to reboot.

    Flash Download may be requested, but ignore it. Flash Download will be executed later.

  9. Press Cancel button before the application launches.
  10. Open a Unix Shell and type su - ENTER to be root user
  11. Type patch_install -u ENTER . Follow the instructions displayed on the screen.
