Liquid Bearing Tube Safety

1 General

This document describes safety information about VCT Liquid Bearing system for Service.

2 Service Electrical Safety

HVDC (670VDC) comes ON and continues ON from the 1st. exposure during Tube Warm-Up, FastCal, Image Scans or Service Tools. Also continuously ON until 30 minutes past System Shutdown and X-Ray rotor continues rotating at low speed if rotor was on at time of shutdown.

HVDC stays on until 30 minutes after exposure completes. Turn off HVDC at the Service Switch panel, after properly stopping the rotor, before servicing the Power pan, Slip Ring or Jedi-HP subsystem.

If rotor was ON, HVDC comes ON during system restart sequence and when E-Stop reset has initiated, because X-ray tube rotor starts acceleration.

3 Mechanical Safety

No difference from Hercules Tube (Ball Bearing).

4 Tube Identifier

The label “Liquid Bearing X-ray Tube Installed.” is attached on Gantry Service Switch panel if the system uses Liquid Bearing Tube.
