General Gantry Inspection
1 Listen for Unusual Noises

Use the gantry service switch panel to rotate the gantry at the slow position.

Listen for any unusual gantry sounds, such as:
-
Bearing noise
-
Rubbing components
-
Rotating components touching covers
-
Loose components
-
Any other unusual sounds
-
-
Repeat the procedure at the fast position.
2 Verify Display Lights and E-Stop Buttons

Using the gantry control push-button, advance the cradle about 2 ft. (610 mm) from the home position.

Press one of the emergency stop switches on the gantry controls.

Depress one of the tilt buttons. Verify that tilt is disabled.

Depress one of the table elevation buttons. Verify that table elevation is disabled.
-
Depress one of the cradle drive buttons. Verify that cradle drive is disabled.
-
Verify that the cradle clutch is released by manually moving the cradle to the home position.

Clear the hazard by pressing the reset button on the gantry control panel.

Verify that tilt, elevation, and cradle drive now work.

Press the remaining E-stops (4 on the gantry, 1 on the PDU, 1 on the SCIM). Verify that power is removed each time by observing the gantry display.
note:If any of the E-stops do not pass, you need to schedule a time to replace the E-stop button. (For replacement procedures, see Service Outlet and E-Stop Replacement.)
3 Test Patient Tilt Sensors
There are two Patient Tilt Sensors: one in front and one in back. Use the following steps to test both sensors.

From the front cover control panel, press and hold the gantry Forward Tilt button.

Press on the Patient Tilt Sensor while still tilting the gantry.

Verify the gantry tilt stops.

Release both the Patient Tilt Sensor and the Tilt button.

Press the Forward Tilt button and verify that the gantry tilts forward.

From the rear gantry control, press and hold the Backward Tilt button.

Press on the rear Patient Tilt Sensor while still tilting the gantry.
-
Verify that the tilt stops.
-
Release both the Patient Tilt Sensor and the Tilt button.

Press the Backward Tilt button and verify that the gantry tilts backward.
-
Return the gantry tilt to zero by pressing and holding the Forward Tilt and Backward Tilt buttons at the same time.
