Top Cover Cooling Fan Replacement

Prerequisites

Overview

Procedure

  1. Remove gantry covers as required.

    Refer to Parts Replacement > Gantry > Enclosure > (Cover Removal Procedure).

  2. Notice Image

    • Always turn OFF the HVDC before the 120 VAC. Turning OFF 120 VAC power before HVDC power can result in equipment damage.
  3. Turn off all three (3) switches (Axial Drive, HVDC, 120VAC) on the Service Switch Panel.
  4. Unplug the cable connecting the fans to the gantry.

    • Heavy Object
    • The top cover is heavier than it appears.
    • Sliding the cover down from the top aids in safe cover removal.
  5. Remove the top gantry cover that has the fan that is being replaced.

  6. Disconnect the cable on the fan.
  7. Remove the four (4) screws that mount the fan to the top cover.
  8. Remove the old fan.

    • Gantry damage will result if cables are not properly secured to top cover.
  10. Reverse the above steps to install the new fan.

    Be sure to secure all cables so that they lay flat on the top cover. There are cable securing items in the installation support kit that can be used to complete this task.

Finalization

  1. Check that fan operates normally when the system is powered.
