Table Elevation Encoder Replacement

Procedure

  1. Raise the table to maximum height.
  2. Remove gantry covers as required.

    Refer to Parts Replacement > Gantry > Enclosure > (Cover Removal Procedure).

    • VOLTAGE MAY BE PRESENT.
    • USE PROPER LOCKOUT/TAGOUT PROCEDURES BEFORE REPLACING COMPONENTS.

    • Always turn OFF the HVDC before the 120 VAC. Turning OFF 120 VAC power before HVDC power can result in equipment damage.
  3. Remove power from table by turning off 120VAC, Axial Drive and HVDC switches on Service Switch Panel.
  4. Remove Base Covers and left Side Panels.
  5. Remove Encoder Assembly, as described in Elevation Encoder Assembly Replacement.
  6. To loosen the encoder, turn the three screws holding it to the mounting block CCW, 180°.
  7. Loosen the screw on the encoder side of the flexible coupling.
  8. Remove defective Elevation Encoder.
  9. Install the new Elevation Encoder on the mounting bracket using three screws.
  10. Replace the Encoder Assembly as described in Elevation Encoder Assembly Replacement.

    • Always turn ON the 120 VAC before the HVDC. Turning ON HVDC power before 120 VAC power can result in equipment damage.
  2. Power up the Table from the Service Switch Panel.
  3. Follow the procedure on Table Characterization to Characterize the Table Elevation.
  4. Using the service switches on the MTCB, move the Table up and down, and the Cradle in and out.
  5. Use the gantry control keys to move the Table up and down, and the Cradle in and out.
  6. When the Table functions properly, reinstall the Table Base Covers, the Side Panels and the Gantry Cover(s).
