Home Latch Assembly Replacement

Procedure

  1. Raise the table to maximum height.
  2. Remove right Gantry Side Cover.
    • warning
    • POTENTIAL FOR SHOCK.
    • VOLTAGE MAY BE PRESENT.
    • USE PROPER LOCKOUT/TAGOUT PROCEDURES BEFORE REPLACING COMPONENTS.

    • Always turn OFF the HVDC before the 120 VAC. Turning OFF 120 VAC power before HVDC power can result in equipment damage.
  3. Remove power from table by turning off 120VAC, Axial Drive and HVDC switches on Service Switch Panel.
  4. Remove the right Table Side Rail Covers and Cradle Drive Cover, to access the Cal Pin.
  5. Install and tighten the Cal pin to about one-half inch from the home position, to hold the carriage in place.
  6. Remove the Cradle Assembly and the right Side Rail Cover.
  7. Disconnect the harness at the terminal strip.
  8. Remove the four screws that fasten the Latch Assembly to the z-channel.
  9. Remove the defective Latch assembly.
  10. Install the replacement Latch Assembly, but do not tighten the four screws.
  11. Adjust the position of the entire Latch Assembly in its slots:
    1. Adjust the Latch assembly until the distance between the carriage latch block and the forward edge of the latch bar opening equals 0.050 ±0.005 inches.
    2. Maintain this distance while you tighten the four screws.
    3. Adjust the set screw in the latch clevis block, until the outer edge of the latch bar overlaps the outer edge of the carriage latch block by 0.050 ±0.00 inches.
    4. Maintain this distance while you tighten the jam nut.
  12. Make sure the solenoid plunger bottoms out:
    1. Adjust the position of the solenoid bracket, until the clearance between the outer edge of the latch bar and the outer edge of the carriage latch block equals 0.050 ±0.005 inches.
    2. Maintain this distance while you tighten the two screws.
  13. Adjust the position of the spring bracket, until the spring has 0.125 inches pre-load, when the latch bar rests against the set screw.

    Maintain this distance while you tighten the two screws.

  14. Install the Cradle.
  15. Return the Cal pin to its storage position.
  16. Return power back to the table and replace table and gantry covers.

Finalization

  2. Power up the Table from the Service Switch Panel.
  3. Using the service switches on the MTCB, move the Table up and down, and the Cradle in and out.
  4. Use the gantry control keys to move the Table up and down, and the Cradle in and out.
  5. When the Table functions properly, reinstall the Table Base Covers, the Side Panels and the Gantry Side Cover.
