CTPM-1319 (Removing Slip Ring Brush Debris)

Procedure

  1. Exercise caution when working with slip ring components to avoid contact, inhalation and ingestion of slip ring brush debris. Take the following steps when handling this material:
  2. Use of Neoprene or nitrile gloves to limit irritation and ingestion of metallic dusts is recommended. Do not remove gloves near an exposed slip ring. The powder inside the glove can contaminate the ring.

    • POTENTIAL FOR EQUIPMENT DAMAGE. USING VACUUM HOSE NEAR LIVE ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT MAY CAUSE EQUIPMENT DAMAGE DUE TO STATIC. MAKE SURE EQUIPMENT IS TURNED OFF PRIOR TO VACUUMING NEAR ELECTRONIC EQUIPMENT.
  4. Use a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) vacuum cleaner to remove residual brush debris
  5. Prior to servicing the slip ring brush assemblies, remove all existing brush debris from the brush blocks, brackets and slip ring covers using the HEPA vacuum.
  6. Each time the slip ring covers are reinstalled, use the HEPA vacuum to remove all brush debris that may have been deposited on the Gantry base and floor during servicing.
  7. Wash your hands thoroughly after servicing any slip ring components.
